************************************************** Here's a blog post about the ad - the quality is quite good. The top section is more relevant - the bottom part is about the man on the white horse. However It's still worth reading the parts about social and cultural contexts. https://livetabog.wordpress.com/2017/10/02/advertising-and-marketing-old-spice-poster/ Here are some questions about the above site.

ONCE ADVERT WORK IS COMPLETE TO A GOOD STANDARD YOU CAN ADAPT THIS OR CHANGE IT IN ANY WAY YOU LIKE. THE MAIN THING IS TO ENSURE THAT IT IS EFFECTIVE AND CONVINCING IN TERMS OF AUDIENCE RESPONSE. SCENARIO A: INTERIOR Jo is working in the school library. It’s an old fashioned room. Victorian décor. Jo suddenly shivers, her pen starts shaking, books fall to the floor. Jo picks them up and tries to start writing. It’s as though someone is holding her arm and forcing it away. Her phone screen is also doing weird things. Suddenly she finds himself writing, as though being forced to write against her will. The words appear on the page of her exercise book as she writes: ‘I hate Miss Coles. She hates me. Help me. Let me out’ Jo looks stunned, gets up and shows her book to a friend. We see them talking and looking concerned. They suddenly notice the front of the exercise book: a different name has appeared on the front: Mary Cato. They talk to a teacher/librarian who says, “hang on… those names ring a bell. Mary Cato. Miss Coles.” Librarian gets out a large book ‘A History of Priory School’ or googles the names Mary Cato + Miss Coles. We hear the teacher/librarian’s voice: “Miss Coles was a notoriously cruel teacher at Priory School in the 1890s. She taught geography and history. She was known for punishing pupils by locking them in a small room in a remote part of the school called the Tower……Mary Cato was a pupil who disappeared mysteriously in 1895. She was never found. Miss Coles was dismissed from the school shortly after Mary disappeared. ” |
